Important milestone crossing of Banihal Katra railway line  The longest 13 km tunnel of Indian Railways was crossed


 BANAHAL // The main tunnel of the longest railway tunnel of Indian Railways has been crossed through the Adhampur-Srinagar Baramulla Railway Line Project.  Located in the middle of the railway station.  An important milestone of the railway line under construction between Katra and Banihal has been reached by crossing the tunnel of about 13 km long railway tunnel. The construction of this tunnel tunnel is being done by HCC and Hindustan Construction Company.  The total length of the inter-rail link project is 272 km and the 161 km section between Banihal and Baramulla has already been made portable and the rail service is running.  The total length of the railway line between Katra and Banihal is 111 km, on which this long tunnel is being constructed. The railway tunnel was crossed in Sambar area on Tuesday.  Officers and engineers of Northern Railway HCC and AFFCON were also present.  Railway officials told Azmi Kashmir that construction work on the 111 km long section between Katra and Banihal is in full swing and construction of several large bridges and long railway tunnels is in various stages.  He said that this section is expected to be completed in next 3 years.  The construction of this railway tunnel is divided into two parts.  HCC and AFFCON are the construction companies. India Construction Company is constructing more than five kilometers of this longest tunnel while the rest of the work is being done by Afkan Company.  The tunnel is being constructed with the help of New Austrian Tunnel Method NATM using state-of-the-art excavation and blasting systems.
