Violence erupts in Magam |  The army

 The situation in Magam Budgam and adjoining areas became extremely tense on Tuesday and the angry mob hurled stones at the army when a picture of a slain Iranian military commander Qasim Soleimani was removed from the wall by an army officer during a search operation.  Attempts were made to set it on fire. The army officer later went to the town and apologized to the people and re-posted the picture on the wall. A statement from Budgam police said the matter was being investigated.  Yes, every possible action will be taken if required.  Eyewitnesses Nazir Hussain Rizvi told Azmi Kashmir that a search was being carried out by the army in Malbochan village, one and a half kilometers away from Magam town, at around one o'clock on Tuesday, during which a slain Iranian military commander was hanging from a wall in a house.  Qasim Soleimani's picture was removed and set on fire. At the same time, violent violence erupted in Malbuchan and Magam and people took to the streets against the incident and suspended traffic on Srinagar-Gulmarg highway.  During this time there was a commotion in the area, the shopkeepers immediately rolled down the shutters of the shops and joined in the protest.  The commanding officer of 2RR went to the settlement and re-affixed the picture of the slain military commander and apologized for the incident and expressed regret over the unintentional mistake made against the personnel involved.  A spokesman for the police said in a statement that "necessary action will be taken in this regard if necessary."  It is alleged that a party of security forces insulted the locals of the village during a patrol in Malbochan village. According to the statement, senior police and civil officers visited the spot and talked to the locals, while also restoring traffic.  The situation is under control. The officials assured the locals that the allegations were being investigated and necessary action would be taken accordingly if necessary.
